How much does it cost to launch a SaaS MVP?

Estimate one-time and recurring SaaS launch costs using a conditional example and current provider prices.

By Antoine RossPublished Facts verified

A SaaS MVP can start with free source code and limited provider tiers, or cost hundreds up front plus recurring infrastructure and transaction fees. Your largest cost may be the time spent building and supporting it. Estimate a specific launch from your hosting, database, domain, email, payment volume and any template purchase instead of treating one headline number as universal.

The USD examples below use provider prices checked October 30, 2026. They are estimates, not quotes: availability, taxes, region, usage, eligibility and pricing can change. Check each provider's current terms before committing.

An example budget

Suppose one builder buys CoreMVP Solo, uses Vercel Pro and one Supabase Pro project, registers a .com domain, and stays within included provider usage. This is a budgeting illustration, not a recommended minimum or a guarantee that those allowances fit your app.

ItemExample costTiming and condition
CoreMVP Solo$99One-time list price for one builder; Team is $299 for up to five. See pricing and license terms.
Vercel Pro$20 per monthVercel pricing lists $20 monthly and included usage credit. Usage, seats and taxes may add cost.
Supabase ProFrom $25 per monthSupabase pricing shows one Micro project covered by the included compute credit in its example; additional projects or usage can cost more.
.com domain$10.46 per yearCloudflare Registrar's price list listed this registration and renewal price; the name must be available and prices can change.
Transactional email$0 initially if within the free planResend pricing lists 3,000 emails per month and 100 per day on its free plan; check its current domain requirements.
Payment processingVaries with salesStripe's US pricing lists 2.9% plus $0.30 for a successful domestic card transaction; other payments and services may cost more.

Under these assumptions, the initial template and domain total $109.46, and the listed hosting and database plans total $45 per month, before email overages, processing, taxes and other expenses. If ten customers each make one $20 US domestic card payment, the illustrated Stripe processing charge is $8.80: ten times $0.88. This excludes subscription billing charges, international cards, currency conversion, disputes, refunds and any other applicable fees. Check your actual Stripe account's pricing and product choices.

Where a free start fits

You can experiment locally with Hikari's MIT-licensed source before purchasing hosting or a domain. Supabase and email providers offer limited free plans, subject to their current conditions. Free plans may have limits that affect reliability or recovery: for example, Supabase says inactive free projects can pause. Check the host's terms as well: Vercel’s terms restrict Hobby to personal or non-commercial use. Do not assume every free tier permits your intended paid service.

A free template saves the license fee, not the work of implementing any missing features. CoreMVP's premium template includes shared organizations, projects and lifetime and subscription paths; compare that saved work with your own budget and requirements in the product documentation.

Budget for the parts a price table misses

  • Your time: building the distinctive feature, reviewing generated code, testing payments, and answering customers all have an opportunity cost.
  • Reliability: backups, a restoration rehearsal, monitoring, error investigation and a separate test environment may require more services or paid plans.
  • Customer operations: support, refunds, disputes, taxes and legal advice depend on your business and location. Payment processing fees are not the same thing as tax obligations.
  • Variable usage: database storage, bandwidth, file storage, emails, AI calls and extra environments can grow independently of subscriber count. Set alerts and revisit the estimate as usage changes.

Start with the smallest plan that permits your intended use and meets your recovery needs. Recalculate using your actual provider selections, expected transaction mix, and current prices before you set your own subscription price.
